Thurs 1st-Sun 4th Sept 2011 Weekend Away Re-scheduled from March This event had to be cancelled because of perverse booking practices by boarding houses in Cambridge. The event cannot now to be re-arranged for March (still Cambridge) because of personal reasons. Watch this space for further anouncements. Those having paid deposits and wishing to go should advise Ray (Ray.Cooke@hse.gov.uk) and Paul. People cancelling can have their deposits re-funded. Sat 11th Feb 2012 Visit to Burton-on-Trent We will take a mid-morning train and aim to be there by lunchtime, and home early evening (with time for a pint in Birmingham if people want to) but please let me, Robert Cawte, know if you are interested and I'll take any feedback into account. If I know numbers I can also investigate discounted tickets for a group. On this trip we may venture out into the local pubs, but will start with the brewery tap at the museum and a trip round the museum for those who are interested. Last time it had some very fine classic beers such as White Shield, Worthington E (as Bass used to be, honest) and the new St Modwen – it really was worth the trip for those alone. I'll take some local advice on the choice of a few pubs to visit around the town Fri 17th Feb 2112 Two Towers Brewery Tour The plan for the tour is as follows; 1900hrs - Meet at the Brown Lion Pub (the Two Towers Brewery Tap) 1920hrs - Walk to the Two Towers Brewery (5-10 min walk) 1930hrs - Start the brewery tour and sample beers 2100hrs - Walk back to the Brown Lion for a few more beers and nibbles There are limited spaces available so please get back to me ASAP if you would like to attend. If you have any friends or family interested they are more than welcome as well, just let me know. The tour will cost £7 per person and you will get plenty tasting samples to make it worthwhile. Getting there: Post code B18 6B5.
