Do You Drink In The Best Real Ale Club In The UK? The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is asking club members and officials from all over the country to consider whether their real ale club is good enough to be considered as the CAMRA Club of the Year for 2009. 
28 Jan 2008 Scottish & Newcastle Takeover - CAMRA claims consumer choice and competition will be hit. The announcement today that Scottish and Newcastle (S&N) is to be acquired and divided between Carlsberg and Heineken has been condemned by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). S&N's UK activities are set to be acquired by Heineken and CAMRA will be eeking urgent reassurances over the future of S&N's real ale interests. 
25 Jan 2008 ‘Station Porter' steams in to be voted Best Winter Beer In The Land! Wickwar Station Porter from Gloucestershire was named as the Supreme Champion Winter Beer
of Britain 2008 by a panel of judges at CAMRA's National Winter Ales Festival in
Manchester. 
17 Jan 2008 "Adopt Your Local Pub" - For Community Pubs Week 2008 Anyone concerned over the threat to British pubs is being encouraged to “Adopt their local pub”. Members of the public who want to support their local can do so by ordering a free Community Pubs Week pack from CAMRA by calling 01727 867201 or visiting www.pubsweek.org and delivering it to the licensee of the pub and encouraging them to participate in this event. 
14 Jan 2008 Finalists Announced For National Pub of The Year Title The Campaign for Real Ale today announces the finalists for the prestigious title of National Pub of the Year. Members of CAMRA from across the UK visited thousands of pubs before deciding on 16 regional winners. However, only four of these pubs could be put forward for the national final. The overall winner will be announced on February 15th 2008, on the eve of CAMRA's Community Pubs Week (February 16th - 23rd). 
11 Jan 2008 Mother and Son win Beer and Food Writing award for 'An Appetite for Ale' Fiona Beckett, who writes regular columns in The Times, Sainsbury’s Magazine and Decanter, and her son Will Beckett, who co-owns the Underdog Pub Group, were last night announced winners of ‘The Bishops Finger Beer with Food Award for Beer and Food Writing’ by the British Guild of Beer Writers at their Awards Dinner last night for the superb ‘An Appetite for Ale’, published by the Campaign for Real Ale. 
06 Dec 2007 “Dark Island” from Orkney Brewery voted best winter beer in Scotland The winner of the second annual Champion Winter Beer of Scotland Competition was today named as Dark Island from Orkney Brewery (Stromness, Orkney) by a panel of judges at CAMRA's Aberdeen and North East Beer Festival.

18 Oct 2007 Herefordshire group dedicated to Cider receive special CAMRA award Each year during National Cider Month in October the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) gives the coveted “Pomona Award” to a group, individual or business that works toward establishing real cider and perry as a premium product. In 2007 the award will go to The Big Apple Association, a Herefordshire based group dedicated to promoting English orchards, apples and cider.
